# #15 Te Araroa Trail – 3000 km across New Zealand – Michael Trousil

Authors: David Czempka

Date: 2023-04-25

Te Araroa is a young long-distance trek stretching across all of New Zealand. It's unique thanks to the variety of its terrain, which includes beaches, forests, jungle and mountains.

"Walking was an activity I tried to avoid as much as I could 😃. That's partly why I decided to hike Te Araroa," says our guest Michael Trousil right at the start of our podcast.

Te Araroa is a relatively young long-distance trek 👣 stretching across all of New Zealand. It's unique thanks to the variety of its terrain, which includes beaches, forests, jungle, and mountains ⛰️. Along the way, you'll encounter Maori culture, visit several national parks, and see filming locations from the legendary Lord of the Rings trilogy 💍. On the trek, you'll also inevitably come across New Zealand's endemic fauna and flora 🇳🇿.
