# How we verify reviews

- Only a customer who has actually purchased the product can write a review with us. On submission, every review is matched to a specific line item of a specific order — which is why we label them “Verified purchase”.
- We publish both positive and negative reviews. We check every review before publication, without undue delay. We decline to publish only contributions that breach the law or accepted standards of conduct (profanity, personal data, content unrelated to the product); the reasons for non-publication are recorded.
- A customer may also give a star-only rating without any text — such a rating counts towards the overall average and the number of ratings, but does not appear in the list of reviews.
- The average rating is the plain arithmetic mean of the stars of all published ratings for a given product, rounded to one decimal place. We share product ratings across our international stores — they are the same products.
- We provide no reward for writing a review.
