We live our work and we love backing fellow enthusiastic nutcases and oddballs. ### [Jakub Jonáš](/jakub-jonas) Jakub has been part of the Gramino family since 2021. It's only fair to admit that our memory of the fateful day the partnership started is slightly blurred by a golden liquid. Jakub took on most of his biggest challenges with his mate Martin Benc – this legendary duo **never turns down a pint, a tougher trail or a mountain challenge**. His long-distance tally includes notches like the **Pacific Crest Trail** (4,286 km in the USA), the **Continental Divide Trail** (4,300 km in the USA), the **SNP Heroes Trail (Cesta hrdinů SNP)** (770 km across Slovakia) and the **Kungsleden Trail** (440 km across Sweden), plus plenty more. For unfiltered stories straight from Jakub's travels, we'll point you to his Instagram profile [@jakub_jonas](https://www.instagram.com/jakub_jonas/). ### [Vagabundi na cestách | Luba and Banán](/vagabundi-na-cestach) The Vagabundi – that is, [Luba Svoboda](https://www.instagram.com/vagabund_luba/) and [Roman Vojvodík](https://www.instagram.com/proste_cestovatel/) (aka Banán) – surely need no introduction. We can't imagine a crazier pair of adventurers – **they've been on the road almost non-stop since the day they came of age**. We bumped into the boys by chance in early 2022, and once we heard what they were planning, we knew we wanted to back them. The list of their mad ventures just keeps growing… At 18 they set off **On foot to the sea (Pěšky k moři)**, at 19 they quit their jobs and headed [On foot to the Sahara](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8McMepndN3E) (in Czech). Right now their biggest and wildest project so far is under way – [On foot across half the planet](https://youtu.be/IDg8R-jUl_k?si=ZGvCV2dtckvu5B9K) (in Czech), which in their case means 24,000 km on foot from Bali all the way to their home town of Frenštát pod Radhoštěm. We teamed up in February 2023 on a joint polar expedition in Sweden. Her travel history and her talent for talking for hours about, say, a poop trowel secured her a rightful place among us. **When this girl gets into something, she goes all in and does it properly.** Besides the **Great Himalaya Trail** (1,700 km, Nepal), which she was the first Czech woman to walk, she also has notches from the **Pacific Crest Trail** (4,286 km, USA), the **Jordan Trail** (650 km, Jordan) and loads of other GR routes. But Pája doesn't only go far – she often and happily goes high as well. In spring 2023 she dreamt up the **6•6k•6** project: six Chilean six-thousanders in six days. That same summer she then had a go at the **eight-thousander Broad Peak** in Pakistan. Catching Pája on home soil is a genuine rarity. If she isn't travelling somewhere solo or with her partner in crime Sarah, she's most likely guiding for the Brno-based [Expedition Club](https://www.expeditionclub.cz/) (in Czech). You can follow her adventures at [@pavlina_adam](https://www.instagram.com/pavlina_adam/). ### [Holka s Bucket Listem | Lucie Kutrová](/lucie-kutrova) Holka s Bucket Listem – Lucka Kutrová and her husky Marvel – is by now known to just about anyone with even a passing interest in long-distance hiking. Years ago Lucka walked the **Pacific Crest Trail** with an “ultra heavy” setup, and it was no different on the other iconic **European routes** (Tour de Mont Blanc, Alta Via 1, the Madeira crossing and more). So we decided to do something about it together and helped her lighten her trail kit. Our collaboration started during her thru-hike of the **Czechia Trail (Stezka Českem)**, then continued on the **Arizona Trail** in the USA and the **GR10 traverse** across the French Pyrenees. After that there was no way back and Lucka became a fully-fledged member of the Gramino crew – a new ambassador and a friend who's always up for a laugh. Our shared **polar expedition on the Swedish Kungsleden** only confirmed that Lucka belongs with us. When Lucka isn't out in the mountains somewhere with her buddy Marvel, she's probably writing another book or travelling between her talks to inspire and motivate others. You can follow all her adventures at [@holka_s_bucket_listem_luca](https://www.instagram.com/holka_s_bucket_listem_luca/). ### [Marek Rybář](/marek-rybar) While travelling in New Zealand back in 2016, Marek got into nature and landscape photography – and not only did it never let go of him, he ended up becoming a freelance **professional photographer**. He runs [photography workshops and courses](https://marekrybar.cz/fotograficke-kurzy/) (in Czech) in seriously attractive spots abroad, and creates online tutorials and other content for social media. Through the winter he also makes a living as a **northern lights hunter**, guiding tourists in the Norwegian town of Tromsø. Since then he has travelled through — and tried living in — plenty of countries. His **passion for travel and photography led him to long-distance treks too**. And that, in turn, led us to him. One word led to another and he became our next ambassador. Marek's tally is mostly shorter, well-known European treks such as **Alta Via 1** in the Dolomites (110 km), the **Tour du Mont Blanc** (165 km), **GR 131 on Tenerife** (88 km), the **Madeira crossing** from west to east (120 km) and one of the most beautiful treks in the world – the **Laugavegur trek** in Iceland (55 km). He also tried a few days in the role of a pilgrim on the **Camino de Santiago** from the Spanish town of Sarria (112 km). His longest feat to date is the **traverse of the Spanish Pyrenees along the GR 11** (820 km), which we went through with him in detail on the [podcast](/blog/gr11-crossing-marek-rybar) (in Czech). We recommend following his gorgeous photographic work at [@marekrybarphoto](https://www.instagram.com/marekrybarphoto/) as well as his travel profile [@marekrybar.cz](https://www.instagram.com/marekrybar.cz/). ### [Aneta Valachová | Anet na Trailu](/aneta-valachova) Aneta is a forever-smiling traveller who decided to make her dream come true and, with zero prior experience, set off solo in 2025 to hike the **Pacific Crest Trail**. Five months of wandering the PCT taught her patience and humility, and lit a love for long-distance treks in her. She decided to share her journey with the world on **YouTube** as **Anet na Trailu**. Her inspiring videos grabbed the attention of hundreds of Czechs who are still only dreaming about a similar adventure – and ours too. We invited her as a guest on our [Život na treku podcast](/blog/a-dream-called-the-pct-anet-na-trailu) (in Czech), and her enthusiasm and positive attitude felt so close to ours that it was instantly clear – the Gramino team is getting **a young new recruit**! They offer a **rich database of outdoor routes** all over Europe, above all here in Czechia and Slovakia, plus Austria, Italy and the surrounding countries. Together with Adventurer App we work on [challenges](https://adventurerapp.com/pages/vyzvy) (in Czech) and on building treks, and members of the Adventurer club can look forward to further perks from our partnership. Whether they come straight out of the hiking community, count as other extreme endeavours, or are non-profit organisations. Worth a mention:* ### **2022 – Humanitarian aid for Ukraine** **Člověk v tísni (People in Need) and ADRA** At Gramino we've always taken the view that politics and world affairs don't belong in our company communication, but the war between Russia and Ukraine is a completely different cup of coffee. That's why we decided, together with our ambassadors, to give **a total of CZK 70,000** to two **humanitarian non-profit organisations,** [**Člověk v tísni**](https://www.clovekvtisni.cz/co-delame/humanitarni-a-rozvojova-pomoc/ukrajina) **and** [**ADRA**](https://adra.cz/jak-pomahame/2022-ukrajina-humanitarni-pomoc-lidem-postizenym-konfliktem-na-ukrajine/), which know exactly how to help affected families, how to organise themselves and how to put the money where it's needed most. You can read more about our contribution [in this article](/blog/humanitarian-aid-to-ukraine) (in Czech). ### **2023 – Protecting large carnivores** **Hnutí Duha Šelmy** Anyone can help nature – on trips outdoors and on long treks it's enough to stick to the [Leave No Trace](/blog/leave-no-trace) (in Czech) principles. But at Gramino we also believe it makes sense to support organisations that contribute to protecting nature, preserving biodiversity and a sustainable environment on a more global scale. One such organisation is the **association** [**Hnutí Duha Šelmy**](https://www.selmy.cz/) (in Czech; a Czech NGO protecting large carnivores), which we decided to **support financially that year with CZK 15,000**. Their work plays a key role **in restoring and maintaining healthy populations of wolves, bears and lynx**, which are not only important for keeping the ecological balance, but are also part of our natural heritage. On top of that they focus on **awareness-raising and educating the wider public**. Jirka Labuda, a field worker at Hnutí Duha Šelmy, was also a guest and speaker at our Festival. We recommend listening to our [joint podcast](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJLwlOA2wy0) (in Czech). ### **2024 – Protecting large carnivores** **Hnutí Duha Šelmy** We built on the previous year's partnership and ran a campaign in which we donated **1% of our June 2024 revenue** to protecting large carnivores. We managed to raise CZK 28,000, which we then **rounded up to a lovely CZK 30,000**. The money raised will go mainly towards monitoring and research, public education and the day-to-day running of the organisation. Thanks to everyone who joined in and helped us give something back to nature 💛. You'll find all the details about the campaign [in this article](/blog/support-large-carnivore-conservation) (in Czech). ### **2025 – Support for families of premature babies** **Nedoklubko** Thanks to your support we can pass joy and help on every year. This year we decided to send a Christmas **donation of CZK 20,000** to the non-profit organisation **Nedoklubko** (a Czech NGO for families of premature babies), which has long looked after the families of prematurely born children and at the same time supports neonatal units across Czechia. Besides direct support, it also spreads awareness about preventing premature birth and helps fund the continuation, development and acceleration of unique research into identifying early on which women are at risk of premature labour.
