## Specifications

The 3F UL Gear Lanshan 1 Pro tent, with its **simple**, but **well-thought-out** **construction**, is one of the most popular ultralight models in its price category. The tent is pitched with **1 trekking pole** and offers a **single-wall** **construction** – the mosquito net is permanently sewn to the rainfly, so the inside of the tent is fully protected from insects and bad weather. Single-wall tents save weight, but can suffer more from condensation. If you prefer a double-wall tent, check out [3F UL Gear Lanshan 1 (2026)](/p/3f-ul-gear-lanshan-1). Ventilation openings above the entrances and slightly scalloped rainfly edges improve air circulation. The tent has **1 entrance with a vestibule**, which provides plenty of room for cooking or storing gear. The entrance opens fully thanks to the T-shaped zipper.

The tent is spacious enough **for 1 person**, even taller ones (interior dimensions **230 x 100 cm**, height **125 cm**).

The latest version of the tent for 2026 brings several improvements. The classic zipper with a protective flap has been replaced with a **waterproof** **zipper**, plastic hooks have given way to **metal** ones, and the most heavily stressed areas have been reinforced with sturdier **material** 20D UHMWPE Grid Nylon. Thanks to these changes, the tent is more resistant to bad weather and wear.

Since the head and foot areas are most exposed to condensation, both ends of the tent now feature **solid nylon panels**, which reduce how much condensation transfers to your sleeping bag. You can also cut off both panels if you want, saving about 20 grams.

In reviews and American comparison tests (e.g. [The Trek](https://thetrek.co/the-best-backpacking-tents/), [Clever Hiker](https://www.cleverhiker.com/backpacking/best-ultralight-tarps-and-tents/#3F-UL-Gear) and [Backpacker](https://www.backpacker.com/gear/tents/best-ultralight-tents/)), Lanshan tents are rated among the best in their price category.

## Materials and construction

The tent's rainfly is built from **20D SilPoly** (fabric weight 38 g/m², water column 2,000 mm). Unlike nylon, polyester doesn't absorb as much water, which means the tent doesn't sag as much in the rain. It's a fabric with a **silicone coating on both sides**, which increases fiber strength, reduces surface water absorption, and improves UV resistance. Because of this, however, **the seams aren't taped** like on regular tents, since tape doesn't hold on a siliconized surface. **You'll therefore need to seal the seams from the outside** with a silicone adhesive/coating before use. You can use, for example, [Gear Aid Seam Grip +Sil 28g](/p/gear-aid-seam-grip-sil-28-g).

Air circulation and minimized condensation, while maintaining good protection against insects, is provided by **15D nylon mesh**. The floor is made from durable **20D nylon with a PU coating** and a 6,000 mm water column. The raised edges of the floor (the so-called bathtub cut) protect against runoff water and ground moisture.

A total of 14 of the most heavily stressed points are reinforced with **UHMWPE fabric reinforcement**, which combines low weight with exceptional strength and resistance to mechanical wear. The YKK zippers and metal Duraflex buckles used ensure a long service life even with frequent use.

The tent's construction is not freestanding, since it's pitched with **a single trekking pole** 120–125 cm tall. The peak can also be hung from a sturdy branch or other structure. The tent's shape holds up well against wind, while **eight stakeout points** and **4 guy-out points** increase stability and allow for proper tensioning of the rainfly.

## Pitching the tent

**Step 1:** Stake down the four corner stakes (A, B, C, D) so they form a precise rectangle. Align the corner guy lines in a straight line with the tent's ridge seams for a more stable structure.

**Step 2:** Drive stake F in at a distance of approx. 1.2 m from the inner tent. Use a trekking pole 120–125 cm long to create the support structure. Tension the vestibule by attaching the guy line to stake F.

**Step 3:** Pull point E outward and secure it with a stake. Tension the lines from stakeout points G1, G2, and G3 and secure them with stakes.
