## Features

The new 2025 Copper Spur tent models feature innovative HyperBead™ technology, which improves material strength, increases water resistance, and reduces weight at the same time (more information below).

Thanks to the two zippers at the rainfly entrance, you can **pitch an awning over the vestibules** (**canopy**) using [trekking poles](/c/gear/trekking-poles), or other poles or branches. On hot days the awning gives you shade, and on warmer nights it provides great ventilation while also protecting against dew.

The tent is designed for **4 people** and has **2 side doors and 2 vestibules**. Sleepers get plenty of room for themselves and their gear. All zippers have two sliders and ergonomic pull tabs. The rainfly's zippers are protected by a storm flap with Velcro. Pitching is made easier, day or night, by **reflective guy lines**.

Pitching the tent is easier thanks to the clever TipLok Tent Buckle™ at the tent corners, which serves three functions: securing the pole structure, tensioning and attaching the rainfly to the inner tent, and staking out.

With the Copper Spur, you'll definitely appreciate **plenty of pockets and storage space**. You'll find the largest pocket (the so-called 3D bin) at the ceiling near the foot end. Smaller flat pockets are also located overhead and on the sides of the inner tent. Inside the tent, you'll also find **loops** for attaching gear lofts and other accessories.

The rainfly doesn't extend all the way to the ground, which ensures **better air circulation** and minimizes the chance of interior condensation. To keep rain from splashing into the tent in heavier downpours, the inner tent has a waterproof material along the sides from the ground up to about 50 cm.

The rainfly is equipped with **vents** above both doors. Good ventilation is also ensured by two sliders, letting you partially open the zipper from the top or bottom. Securing the open inner tent doors is made easy with the **Quick Stash holder**.

For extra stability, there's **Velcro on the inside of the rainfly** that you use to attach the rainfly to the pole structure. Pitching the tent is quick and easy thanks to the **lightweight, durable DAC Featherlite aluminum pole structure**.

The tent can also be used in **Fast Fly** mode, where you leave the inner tent at home and head out with just the pole structure, rainfly, and stakes. That gets you down to a fantastic weight of **1,840 grams**. You'll need the [**original footprint**](/p/big-agnes-copper-spur-ul4-footprint-2025) (footprint) though, which **isn't included in the package**. The footprint will also extend the life of your inner tent. If you don't want to get a footprint, consider at least using [Tyvek](/p/tyvek-groundsheet-250-x-150-cm).

The tent also comes with a **practical compression carry bag**, the EZ Pack Stuff Sack, with a large longitudinal opening and a compression closure for quick and easy packing.

## HyperBead™ technology

For its 2025 ultralight tents, Big Agnes introduces a new innovative material treatment – **HyperBead™**. Thanks to this advanced **waterproof** treatment, the tents are **lighter, stronger, and more durable** than ever. HyperBead™ contains no PFAS or other harmful substances, offering a **safer and more sustainable** alternative to standard water-repellent treatments with no negative impact on health or the environment.

Compared to standard materials, tents with HyperBead™ technology have:

- **6% lower weight** – even lighter ultralight tents,
- **50% higher strength** – better tear resistance,
- **25% higher water resistance** – lasting protection with no need for re-waterproofing.

Unlike standard DWR treatments, HyperBead™ is impermeable at the molecular level, so it retains its effectiveness for the tent's entire lifespan. It also stretches less when wet, which contributes to better stability and a longer material lifespan.

- **Inner tent** – breathable recycled 15D nylon with 20D solution-dyed ripstop and 15D polyester mesh
- **Poles** – DAC Featherlite NFL, NSL, and Pressfit poles
- **Waterproof seams** – solvent-free polyurethane tape (contains no PVC or VOCs). **All seams are taped**, so there's no additional seam sealing or similar to do.
- **Stakes** – 11 x 6” Dirt Dagger™ UL Stakes (15 cm long)
- The tent is **freestanding**. This means it can stand on its own even without being staked out.
- Pitching the tent is **simple** and **intuitive**.
