## Specifications

The new VST line from the popular American brand [Big Agnes](/b/big-agnes) targets everyone who wants to move faster and lighter in the mountains and on long-distance trails, without giving up durability and comfort.

The Big Agnes String Ridge VST 1.5 tent pitches with **2 trekking poles**, so you save the weight of dedicated tent poles. The tent is designed **for 1 person** and has **1 door with a spacious vestibule**. The asymmetric design makes the most of the interior space – a comfortable spot to lie down even with a wide, extended sleeping pad, plus **extra "half" space** for stashing your pack and gear, or for your dog.

Big Agnes calls the tent's construction a **hybrid single/double-wall** design. In practice, it's a classic single-wall tent with an integrated mesh inner and floor, which also has a larger **mesh ventilation panel** on the door-less wall under the trekking-pole support to reduce condensation.

Like all of Big Agnes's newer tents, the tent's material is treated with innovative **HyperBead™ technology**, which makes it even lighter, stronger, and more water-resistant than commonly used tent fabrics.

## Features

- Simple, intuitive setup with **2 trekking poles**, with reinforced pockets for the pole handles and loops to secure the poles and tension the tent's bottom edge.
- Enough interior room even for a **wider sleeping pad** (Wide size), including **extra space** for storing gear or your four-legged companion.
- A large, covered **mesh ventilation panel** to reduce condensation.
- Ergonomically shaped **YKK DynaPel™ ErgoZip** zippers on the fly, which operate smoothly and comfortably from any position. They're more durable than standard waterproof zippers and are made from sustainable recycled materials free of PFAS.
- **Magnetic tabs** for securing open doors.
- **2 small pockets** in the tent's corners for your phone and other small items.
- Also included: **9 stakes** 6” Dirt Dagger™ UL Stakes and a **stuff sack**.

## Materials and construction

- **All seams are taped**, so there's no extra seam sealing to do.
- **Stakes** – 9 x 6” Dirt Dagger™ UL Stakes (15 cm long)
- The tent **is not freestanding** – it needs 2 trekking poles to pitch.
- Setup is **simple** and **intuitive**.

## HyperBead™ technology

Since 2025, Big Agnes has brought a **new, innovative fabric treatment** to its ultralight tents – **HyperBead™**. Thanks to this advanced **water-resistant** treatment, tents are **lighter, stronger, and more durable** than ever. HyperBead™ contains no PFAS or other harmful substances, offering a **safer, more sustainable** alternative to standard water-repellent treatments with no negative impact on health or the environment.

Compared to standard materials, tents with HyperBead™ technology have:

- **up to 6% lower weight** – even lighter ultralight tents,
- **up to 50% higher strength** – better resistance to tearing,
- **up to 25% higher water resistance** – lasting protection with no need for re-waterproofing.

Unlike standard DWR treatments, HyperBead™ is impermeable at the molecular level, so it keeps its effectiveness for the tent's entire lifespan. It also stretches less when wet, which contributes to better stability and a longer material lifespan.
