Its output still matches bulkier, heavier models. The pump weighs just 29 grams, or 48 grams with the rechargeable battery. Thanks to a well-designed set of nozzles it's compatible with practically any sleeping pad. ## What makes this product special? On top of that it's the **smallest and lightest pump in the world**, so you won't even notice it in your backpack! This updated model is even lighter and yet **40% more powerful** than its predecessor. It will definitely **save you time and breath** at camp. **Inflating a sleeping pad by mouth** pushes moisture inside the pad, and it isn't easy to dry out. That can lead to **mold forming and growing** inside the chambers. And if you inflate your pad by mouth in freezing temperatures, the trapped moisture inside the pad can **condense and freeze**. Neither of those problems **does your sleeping pad's lifespan any favors**, and in some cases they can even damage it. You can prevent it by using a pump sack or a pump. For us the **pump wins** hands down – with it, getting your pad ready for the night is **absolutely no work at all**! Getting all the air out of a sleeping pad and packing it into a small stuff sack can be a fight. With the ZERO Pump 2 it's a breeze. Just attach the pad to the air intake side and **the inflation pump turns** **into a vacuum pump**. In moments you'll have all the air out of the pad and packed down as small as it will go. You can also use the pump **to fan a fire.** ## Inflation nozzles Thanks to the **set of 6 different nozzles** included in the package, you can use the pump with practically every sleeping pad and other inflatable outdoor gear. The nozzles are **small, light and rubber**, and they seat beautifully on both the pump and sleeping pad valves, which stops air from escaping. According to tests in the Flextail lab using an RCR123A 900mAh battery, individual sleeping pad types inflate in **45-63 seconds**, for a total of **20-30 inflations per charge**: - Therm-a-Rest (30 x 45 s) - Big Agnes (30 x 45 s) - Klymit (24 x 63 s) - Exped (24 x 63 s) - Nemo (20 x 62 s) - Sea to Summit (20 x 63 s) Take those figures with a pinch of salt, though – **in our experience** inflating a pad takes longer, depending on its size and type. On long-distance treks it's usually enough to recharge the battery in towns along with the rest of your electronics (power bank, headlamp and so on). ## Replaceable battery The Flextail ZERO pump now ships with a **Flextail ZERO** **900 CHT rechargeable battery** with a capacity of **900 mAh** and a voltage of **3,7 V**. The battery has a **USB-C charging port**. According to lab tests the supplied battery lasts 22 minutes of inflating, which – based on how long specific sleeping pads take – works out to an average of 24–30 inflations per charge. **The battery in the pump is also easy to swap out**. It does have to be one of these battery types: RCR123A with a charging port, RCR123A with a charger, or single-use CR123A.
