Thanks to its incredibly low weight and perfect packability, you will hardly feel it in your backpack, and it will become a permanent part of your gear list. The jacket can be packed into its chest pocket. Extremely lightweight men's waterproof and breathable jacket. ## Minimus Jacket The Minimus Jacket is a rightful staple in Montane's range for several years now. We ourselves had this piece while hiking across Iceland in 2017, and since then it has undergone several improvements. The main domain of this jacket is its **really low weight** and **excellent packability**, making it suitable mainly **for shorter treks as well as long-distance trails, travel, and mountain running**. The jacket is constructed from a 2,5-layer **Pertex® Shield material with a water column of 20 000 mm and a breathability of 20 000 g/m2/24 hours**, which can be considered above standard for waterproof jackets. All seams are carefully taped with waterproof micro strips that do not reduce the breathability of the jacket. Jacket fit and all the features are designed so that **nothing restricts you during active movement**, whether it’s running or walking slowly. ## **Features** - **technical construction** prevents the hem of the jacket from riding up when you raise your arms - **ergonomically tailored sleeves** for easy movement - **fully adjustable hood** with drawcords at three points - size of the hood is adjustable and can be pulled **over a climbing helmet** - easily adjustable hood with one hand, the **hood can be packed** using a Velcro strap - **main front zipper** is waterproof AquaGuard (covered with an inner protective flap with a drainage channel) - top end of the main front zipper is **covered with fabric** for safety reasons - chest pocket has a YKK waterproof AquaGuard zipper (covered with an inner protective flap and a drainage channel) - **large mesh chest pocket**, e.g. for a map - at the end of the sleeves, there is a **Velcro cuff** sewn in, which serves to protect the hands in adverse weather - **drawstring at the bottom hem** of the jacket prevents heat loss - **reflective details** are distributed around the entire perimeter of the jacket - chest pocket also serves as a **stuff sack** for packing the jacket ### Our experience When packing for shorter trips, we often hesitate whether to take our classic (heavier and less packable) waterproof jacket or leave it at home. We won't lie, there have been several times when the weather forecast turned 180° and we regretted not having the waterproof jacket with us. With the low weight and perfect packability of the Minimus jacket, this dilemma practically disappears, as **you will hardly feel it in your backpack**. Unlike heavy waterproof jackets, you won’t mind carrying it with you, even if you don't end up using it. It will become a permanent part of your gear list. We had the Minimus Jacket with us during our hike across of Iceland in 2017, where they really proved themselves. ### **Our recommendation** Since it is an ultralight 2,5-layer piece, **it is not suitable to wear the jacket for an extended period under a heavy backpack** (approx. over 10 kg). This could lead to rapid wear of the material in the shoulder area. For a heavier backpack, we recommend opting for a waterproof jacket with a 3-layer construction – Montane Phase Lite Jacket. Definitely **don't forget to wash your jacket** with a suitable detergent after a few activities ([Atsko Sport Wash 1000 ml](/p/atsko-sport-wash-1000-ml)) – this will extend its lifespan. Salt, sweat, and dirt can decrease the performance and lifespan of ultralight materials and waterproof membranes. ## Parameters - Weight (size M): 188 g - Material: 15 denier® Pertex Shield (100% nylon) - Material construction: 2,5-layer - Zipper type: YKK AquaGuard - Waterproofness: 20 000 mm - Breathability: 20 000 g/m2/24 hours - Recommended load: around 10 kg - Usage: trekking, running, cycling ### High collar A sufficiently high collar around the neck that protects against the cold. The zipper ends are covered with a flap to prevent scratching the chin. ### Cuff sleeves Thanks to the Velcro cuffs, your sleeves won't keep rolling up and letting heat escape. ### Adjustable hood You can tighten the hood as needed with the elastic drawcord. It won't fall into your eyes here, and it can also be pulled over a climbing helmet. ### Bottom hem By tightening the bottom hem of the jacket, you will prevent unnecessary heat loss and unpleasant riding up of the hem during movement. ### Chest pocket A spacious chest pocket can hold a map and other small items. It is protected by a waterproof zipper. ### Packable into a pocket The jacket packed into the chest pocket takes up minimal space. ## Specs - Color: Electric Blue, Black - Clothing size: L, M, XL, S - Jacket type: Waterproof, Windproof - Sex: Men - Material: Pertex Shield DWR (53 g/m², 15D × 40D ripstop nylon) - Water column: 20000 mm - Breathability: 20,000 g/m²/24 h - Weight: 188 g - Woocommerce product id: 52065 - Brand: Montane ## Variants - Montane Minimus Jacket - Small, Black · SKU MMINJBLAB07 · EAN 5056237004873 · €174.90 · Out of stock · Black, S - Montane Minimus Jacket - Medium, Black · SKU MMINJBLAM07 · EAN 5056237004880 · €174.90 · Out of stock · Black, M - Montane Minimus Jacket - Xlarge, Electric-blue · SKU MMINJELEX07 · EAN 5056237004958 · €177.10 · Out of stock · Electric Blue, XL - Montane Minimus Jacket - Large, Black · SKU MMINJBLAN07 · EAN 5056237004897 · €177.10 · Out of stock · Black, L - Montane Minimus Jacket - Xlarge, Black · SKU MMINJBLAX07 · EAN 5056237004903 · €177.10 · Out of stock · Black, XL - Montane Minimus Jacket - Medium, Electric-blue · SKU MMINJELEM07 · EAN 5056237004934 · €177.10 · Out of stock · Electric Blue, M - Montane Minimus Jacket - Large, Electric blue · SKU MMINJELEN07 · EAN 5056237004941 · €177.10 · Out of stock · Electric Blue, L - Montane Minimus Jacket - Small, Electric blue · SKU MMINJELEB07 · EAN 5056237004927 · €160.20 · In stock · Electric Blue, S ## Related - [Montane Ultraflask 500 ml](/p/montane-ultraflask-500-ml.md) - [Montane Men's Minimus Lite Jacket (2026)](/p/montane-mens-minimus-lite-jacket-2026.md) - [Montane Anti-Freeze Hoodie](/p/montane-mens-anti-freeze-hoodie.md) - [Montane Dart Long Sleeve T-Shirt](/p/montane-mens-dart-long-sleeve-t-shirt.md) - [Patizon ReLight Pro Man](/p/patizon-relight-pro-man.md) - [Gramino Gear List Men's](/p/gramino-tshirt-gearlist-mens.md) - [Cumulus Plancklite Men's](/p/cumulus-plancklite.md) - [Gramino Trucker Hat](/p/gramino-trucker-hat.md) ## Shipping and returns - [Shipping and payment](/shipping-payment) - [Returns](/return-order) ## Images - ![Montane Minimus Jacket](https://media.gramino.com/medusa/bcf43ae1fc5587f7ebc44ab9b951ef80-01KWHVN1H01PS954JG6EJ3GQSF.jpg) - ![Montane Minimus Jacket](https://media.gramino.com/medusa/7f2521fd8148cff972f1d4e7e58a42fd-01KWHVN1HWT00WAG49ZHZ1Y5BR.jpg) - ![Montane Minimus Jacket](https://media.gramino.com/medusa/4141ce274f33917b34c961dbd0222373-01KWHVN1K0T1D785EQG8C4SM58.jpg) - ![Montane Minimus Jacket](https://media.gramino.com/medusa/724a489dea5571c4e3dcddd59b392281-01KWHVN1PM0WHP6YB0ARZZ6TWK.jpg) - ![Montane Minimus Jacket](https://media.gramino.com/medusa/0e0a8220df3f60edaed8e21f21d9f457-01KWHVN1P5GVECZHVDNSN8V184.jpg) - ![Montane Minimus Jacket](https://media.gramino.com/medusa/10afd8265a17ad8f058e35a396560244-01KWHVN1QCEEJZ7VMP399PZM7K.jpg) - ![Montane Minimus Jacket](https://media.gramino.com/medusa/dda9cbd1a64848875770580a9b78453c-01KWHVN1SGCX46GMV0787B9CSY.jpg) - ![Montane Minimus Jacket](https://media.gramino.com/medusa/bc2f16b6d9ea918cf2bfecc45bbed0b3-01KWHVN1SEHT82JNK4VE45K0MY.jpg) ## Identifiers - SKU: MMINJELEB07 - EAN: 5056237004927 - Handle: montane-mens-minimus-jacket - Brand: Montane This product is also available as [HTML](/p/montane-mens-minimus-jacket).
