The Sawyer Single Mini is the new generation of the popular light, versatile water filter that fits neatly in your palm. It filters using hollow microfibers whose walls form a membrane with pores of max 0,1 micrometers. With its very low weight (57 g), efficiency (99,999%) and lifespan (378 000 l) it ranks among the world's best.

## What makes this product special?

One of the most widely used and smallest travel filters in the world.

## How does it work?

The filter contains a large number of U-shaped hollow microfibers that trap contaminants while still allowing a good flow of decontaminated water. The pore size is 0,1 micron; anything bigger is caught in the microfibers. The Sawyer Single Mini filter guarantees the removal of **99,99999% of all health-harming bacteria (salmonella, cholera, E. coli, etc.), parasitic protozoa (giardia and cryptosporidium) and 100% capture of microplastics**.

## Use and lifespan

- You can use the filter to filter water from one bottle into another.
- You can connect the filter to a hydration bladder and drink straight from it.
- With the straw you can drink through the filter straight from the source.
- Drink straight from a bottle with the filter fitted (it screws onto any PET bottle with a standard 28 mm thread).

Compared to the [Sawyer Squeeze](/p/sawyer-squeeze-sp129) filter it's smaller, 30 grams lighter and has a slightly lower flow rate (approx. 1,2–1,5 l/min). Sawyer guarantees a filter lifespan of more than **378 000 liters of water** with regular maintenance.

## Maintenance

**Protect your filter from freezing** – if water froze inside it, the microfibers could be damaged. Every now and then **backflush the filter with the syringe and clean water in the opposite** direction to the flow of filtration (at least after every trip). Otherwise the filter needs no specific maintenance.
