It has a wide anatomical toe box, a 5 mm drop, and a Vibram® Megagrip outsole that grips even on wet rock. The new generation adds a universal gaiter attachment, a more durable mesh, and a sturdier collar around the ankle, so it'll last even more kilometers. ## What makes this product special? Durable men's trail running shoes with a wide toe box and a 5 mm drop for thru-hiking and long days on the trail. wide, roomy toe box, highly durable mesh upper, ZipFoam midsole (EVA/TPU), Rock Plate protection, FKT Insole for fast moisture wicking, grippy outsole with Vibram® Megagrip, universal gaiter attachment ## Topo Traverse 2 The Topo Athletic Traverse 2 was developed specifically for **long days on your feet**. The shoe has a 5 mm drop and **moderate cushioning** (30 mm under the heel), so it's built for **demanding thru-hiking** and all-day comfort with a pack on your back. The **ZipFoam** midsole absorbs impact. A protective Rock Plate in the forefoot shields your foot from sharp rocks on technical terrain. The **FKT Insole** with its closed-cell structure **doesn't soak up water**, so the shoe doesn't get heavy after fording and dries quickly. Traction comes from the **Vibram® Megagrip** outsole, which grips reliably on wet rock, mud, and scree. **The anatomically shaped wide toe box** gives your toes room to move naturally. The Traverse 2 now features a **universal gaiter attachment** (Universal Gaiter System). **The upper is made of a more durable mesh** that holds up better to abrasion, and **the collar lining is tougher**, so it lasts longer before wearing through. The shoe is an ideal choice for thru-hiking and long routes in demanding conditions. ## Features - wide, roomy toe box - highly durable mesh upper - drop: 5 mm - stack height (cushioning) at forefoot: 25 mm - stack height (cushioning) at heel: 30 mm - ZipFoam midsole (EVA/TPU) - Rock Plate protection - grippy outsole with Vibram® Megagrip - FKT Insole for fast moisture wicking - universal gaiter attachment - weight: 317 g (single shoe, size 42,5 EU) - intended use: hiking, thru-hiking, technical terrain ## Our experiences The Traverse is **an honest trail running shoe with a solid tread pattern** that can take a beating and keep you steady on the trail. A few of us on the **Gramino team (David, Míša, and Barča) have sworn by Topo trail running shoes for the past several years**. We've put Topo Athletic shoes to the test on a number of treks: - **lighter winter crossings** combined with waterproof [DexShell](/b/dexshell) socks, - **a mountain trek in Kyrgyzstan**, which mainly involved moving through dusty, rocky terrain and scree fields, - In 2025, Barča wore Topo trail running shoes on a stretch of the **Pacific Crest Trail.** They've proven themselves every time, so we're thrilled to be able to offer them here at Gramino!
