Darn Tough Vermont is a family-owned company from America, specializing in making socks. Their hiking socks have become absolute favorites among hikers on well-known trails like the Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, and more. They proudly declare: “We design and craft the most comfortable, durable, and best-fitting socks.” This promise, or motto, is further emphasized by their unconditional lifetime guarantee – if you get a hole in the socks, you’ll get a new pair for free.
Merino socks from the legendary American brand Darn Tough are worn by pretty much all hikers on long-distance trails, like Pacific Crest Trail, Continental Divide Trail and Appalachian Trail. And it’s not just for their lifetime warranty, but mainly for their guaranteed quality and incredible comfort. Walking in Darn Tough socks feels like walking on a cloud, especially when you pair them with breathable and lightweight running shoes. That's the guaranteed recipe for happy feet without blisters. But we don't have to stick to hiking and trekking – Darn Tough offers socks for running, winter, and everyday wear. With their extensive range of sizes, heights, weights, colors, and patterns, there's definitely something for everyone.
Family production
From a small family company based in Vermont, USA, it has become one of the most popular sock brands in the past 40 years, known to hikers all around the world. The current operation obviously looks different from the start, with production expanding to other factories, but their mindset remains the same and they still stand by their visions. The family atmosphere in the company is still evident today, production is localized only in Vermont, and their goal is to create the most comfortable, durable, and best-fitting socks. They claim that they haven’t made the best sock yet, but we don’t completely agree with that statement – once you pull on their socks, you won’t want to take them off!
Lifetime warranty with no strings attached
Really! This isn’t just a marketing ploy to reel in customers, where you later find out there are a ton of exceptions to the rule. The brand Darn Tough stands so firmly behind the quality of its socks that if you get a hole in your socks, you simply get a new pair. Their lifetime guarantee gives them awesome feedback from users and drives continuous improvement and fulfillment of their vision. From our own experience, we can say that getting a hole in Darn Tough socks is a real challenge.
It doesn't matter where you buy the socks – you can make a claim at the distributor for the Czech market, abroad, and at physical retailers of Darn Tough socks (you don't even need a receipt). You can find all the details about the warranty and exchange process at this page.

How to take care of your socks
You don't have to wash Merino socks after every wear. Merino wool is naturally antibacterial, which makes it resistant to odors. Less frequent washing is actually good for them and increases their durability. So, you can wash the socks after a few days of wearing them, or even after a month. It's all about your personal preferences.
Before washing your socks, turn them inside out. Wash them in the washing machine on a gentle cycle or in warm water. If your washing machine has a wool wash setting, you can use that. If you're washing your socks while trekking in the wild, we recommend universal cleaner Sea To Summit, which is gentle on both the environment and your socks and skin. Don't use bleach or fabric softeners. Dry on low heat in the dryer or ideally air dry.
What to watch out for: High heat and aggressive chemicals can damage the properties of merino wool fibers. To make your socks last as long as possible, keep these 4 rules in mind: Don’t clean them chemically. Don’t use bleach. Don’t use fabric softener. Don’t iron them.
