Nemo
NEMO Equipment is an American outdoor gear brand that mainly focuses on making tents, sleeping bags, and sleeping pads. NEMO emphasizes design, functionality, innovation, and last but not least, sustainability, which is reflected in their commitment to using recycled materials and reducing their environmental impact. NEMO products are valued for their quality and durability, so it’s no surprise they’re popular on long-distance trails, such as the Pacific Crest Trail.
NEMO Equipment is now considered one of the most popular manufacturers of ultralight outdoor gear, not just in the American market. This is also evident from the fact that in recent years, their products (especially ultralight tents and an inflatable sleeping pads) come up at the top of surveys regarding the most used and popular gear on long-distance trails, such as Pacific Crest Trail, Appalachian Trail and Continental Divide Trail.
How a dream is born
Cam Brensinger came up with the idea to start the NEMO brand after a sleepless stormy night in 2002 on the slopes of Mt. Washington, where he spent the night in a poorly designed bivy. As a student of industrial design at the time, he decided to combine his knowledge and love for the mountains to create products with thoughtful designs that serve people for a long time without compromising on comfort and functionality. And that's how the NEMO brand was born, named after Captain Nemo from Jules Verne's books. It gradually started to receive a bunch of awards and accolades, and this trend continues to this day. Its headquarters has been located in Dover, New Hampshire, since its inception.
Focus on sustainability
One of the brand's fundamental pillars is its focus on sustainability. Every year, a ton of outdoor gear gets made, but also tossed – tents, sleeping bags, backpacks… And unfortunately, only a really small portion of this thrown-away stuff is recyclable and ends up where it should. The brand NEMO realizes it’s part of this problem, but at the same time, it wants to be part of the solution. They’re on a path to use as many recycled certified materials as possible in the production of their products – bluesign® (that means the products were made in a way that's safe for the environment, workers, and its users). As part of its program Endless Promise® they also focus on reducing waste, supporting repairs, and recyclability of products at the end of their life cycle. The goal is to prevent their gear from ending up in a landfill while taking responsibility for their products from start to finish.
Ultralight tents made from patented material
We've decided to include ultralight tents in our lineup – OSMO series, made from patented ripstop material OSMO. It's a blend of 100% recycled polyester and nylon that’s unique in its properties. The material is 20% stronger, has 4x better water repellency, and 3x less stretch when wet compared to commonly used tent materials. Plus, OSMO material doesn't contain PFAS substances, no added chemicals were used in its production, and it meets fire safety standards.
Comfortable sleep anywhere and anytime
In our offer, you'll find foam sleeping pads from the brand NEMO (NEMO Switchback), so as well as inflatable sleeping pads from the product line Tensor series, which have undergone massive upgrades for 2024. They’re becoming quite popular on long American trails, rivaling those from Therm-a-Rest. They’re lightweight, extremely comfortable, durable, and thanks to the materials used and the design, they rustle less. Available in several different sizes, widths, and shapes, they mainly differ in the number of layers of internal thermal insulation. Everyone can find something in the inflatable sleeping pads offered by NEMO. And as long as you’re not woken up at night by a sniffing bear, with NEMO sleeping pads, you can be sure you'll always sleep like a baby out in nature.
