Sea To Summit
Australian brand inspired by adventures from all elevations – from sea level to the summit. Sea To Summit focuses on ultralight, functional, and meticulously crafted gear for camping, hiking, traveling, and sleeping outdoors.
From the sea to the mountain tops
The story of one of the most famous brands in today's outdoor industry, Sea to Summit, started in 1983 when its founder Roland Tyson began trying to make his first experimental outdoor gear at home on his sewing machine. Before long, he was producing all kinds of gear for adventurers heading into the Australian wilderness and mountains around the world.
In 1991, his skills got to a point where he and Tim Macartney-Snape managed to gear up a groundbreaking expedition to Mount Everest, which, unlike all the other previous attempts to conquer the highest peak in the world, started right from sea level. Such a demanding undertaking required gear that had to combine what was then almost impossible – minimal weight, versatility, and maximum durability in tough expedition conditions. The gear held up, the expedition succeeded, and with it began the story of the now legendary brand Sea to Summit.
It's all in the details
In the Sea to Summit range, you'll practically find everything today – from perfect lightweight and comfy inflatable sleeping pads, sleeping bags, tents, and tarps, to gear that every adventurer uses literally from morning till night (dry bags and covers, cutlery, trowels, repair components, and more). For sleeping pads, one proven option is STS Ultralight Insulated or an affordable model for summer hikes STS Ultralight Air Mat. Recently, they’ve expanded their offer to include new stuff, like a light yet incredibly comfortable inflatable sleeping pad STS Ether Light XR Insulated. Among the shelters, the popular choice is STS Telos TR2 tent and minimalist tarp STS Ultra-Sil 15D Nano Tarp Poncho, which you can also use as a waterproof poncho during the day.
Sea To Summit and Gramino
Here at Gramino, we’ve definitely love other little things from Sea To Summit, among which you’ll find their lightweight and durable outdoor cookware and other accessories for expedition kitchens. But we can't forget about the small but essential pieces of gear like outdoor towels (e.g. STS Airlite Towel) or sleeping pads (e.g. STS Ultralight Aeros Pillow). We often use their waterproof and compression sacks for safely storing your stuff in your backpack. At Sea to Summit, they just get that even the tiniest pieces of gear should be functional and well-designed down to the last detail. And we really appreciate that!
