Liteway
A young, ambitious brand from Ukraine that specializes exclusively in ultralight backpacks, tents, and tarps. All products are handcrafted in a small workshop in the city of Kryvyj Rih. Liteway carefully tracks trends in the ultralight world and constantly tweaks, improves, and sews its gear from new and better (preferably recycled) materials. We’ve personally met the founder Evgen, and he’s a really energetic guy who’s passionate about ultralight gear.
Liteway is one of those small companies in the ultralight gear scene that you can find lots of around the world, but they’re just starting to pop up in Europe. The advantage of these smaller, so-called “garage” companies is that due to their lower production volume, they can afford to work on more thoughtfully designed pieces of gear, and they’re usually directly involved in the ultralight community. In this respect, Liteway is definitely no exception – since the very beginning, the Liteway team has been passionately striving to come up with backpacks, tents, shelters a other outdoor gear from the most modern lightweight materials.
A roof above, even on the ridge
The Liteway offer is constantly changing and expanding right before our eyes, but we already love their thoughtful ultralight tents a minimalist tarps, which are based on proven constructions and materials, but are often distinguished from the rest of the market by various thoughtful technical details and features that will make your trek significantly easier.
Tents from Liteway can hold up even in high mountains and won’t weigh down your backpack unnecessarily. One shining example of this is their awesome one-person ultralight tent Illusion Solo, on which our ambassador Pavlína Adam wrote review, because she thoroughly tested it in the distant mountains of Bolivia. Despite its minimal weight, this simple shelter, which sets up on a single trekking pole, boasts a spacious vestibule and a well-thought-out ventilation system. Liteway also makes this tent in a two-person version Illusion Duo.
With Liteway shelters, even total minimalists will find what they're looking for. As an ultralight alternative to a tent, you can use, for example, Pyraomm Plus Tarp or its larger version Pyraomm Max Tarp, which is a shelter on the border between a tarp and a tent, that you can cleverly modularly complement with a mesh with a footprint Pyraomm Max Full Mesh. However, if you're looking for an emergency shelter for one, or you're aiming for an absolutely minimal weight, you'll surely appreciate the Simplex Mini Tarp.
And if you're looking for ultralight stakes to really pitch these luxurious shelters tight, they've got polyactide stakes ready for you – Delta Pegs. One thing’s for sure – if you’re looking for a well-thought-out yet super lightweight shelter for mountain conditions, you’ve come to the right place with Liteway.
Home on your back
Besides tarps and tents, Liteway also makes lightweight backpacks for long-distance trails. Those who head out on long treks and already have their gear sorted can easily fit everything into a frameless backpack Biggie Pack with a volume of 45 liters. It stands out not only for its minimal weight but also for its thoughtfully designed pocket system on the hip and shoulder straps, so you’ll always have all your little essentials within reach. True minimalism fans will surely opt for a durable and waterproof backpack Elementum Pack Ultra with a volume of 50 liters.
Besides the larger technical pieces for long treks, you'll also find weekend backpacks and daypacks in the Liteway line, like this lightweight gem Grammless Pack with a volume of 35 liters, or even an urban backpack Urban Pack X-Pac, into which you can fit anything you need for work or a walk, up to 14 liters.
Everything at hand
Liteway also makes a range of technical accessories for backpacks and small gear that really matter. Whether you’re just on a short walk in the woods outside of town, or on a several-month trek across the continent, you always need some little essentials right at hand. And that’s exactly the kind of extra storage capacity that a minimalist and ultralight fanny pack offers you – Hip Belt Pokkie Ultra. If you need a bit more capacity from the fanny pack and a more comfortable attachment system, which bikepackers appreciate, then go for Fanny Pack Ultra. On our Gramino e-shop, you’ll also find accessories for backpacks from Liteway, like a pocket for the shoulder strap Lite Pocket, in which you can comfortably fit things like your phone or a stash of snacks to recharge your energy.
Other accessories from this brand include, for example, dry bags made from modern technical material DFC – Litebag DCF. We firmly believe that the offerings of this young and progressive company will continue to expand in the upcoming seasons – there's still a lot to look forward to.
