What makes this product special?
Breathable and lightweight shoes with a WIDE toe box for hiking, running, and long-distance trails.
Topo Terraventure 4
Comfortable, lightweight, spacious, yet durable – these are our impressions of wearing the Terraventure model. The 4th generation of this line retains its medium level of cushioning and relies on the Vibram® Megagrip outsole, known for its outstanding traction even on wet rocky surfaces. The outsole also features a protective layer (rock plate) in the forefoot, shielding you from sharp rocks and roots.
The 3 mm drop is an ideal compromise for those who prefer a natural foot strike but don’t want a zero drop at the same time. If you prefer a zero drop, check out the Pursuit 2 model.
The upper of the shoe is made of woven fabric that combines breathability and durability. It also features a wide toe box that allows for natural toe and foot splay, making the Pursuit a perfect choice not only for running but also for hiking long-distance trails.

Standard vs. Wide
The width of shoes is indicated by letters that show how much room is inside the footwear. B is considered standard width for women's shoes, while D is the common width for men's models. E and 2E (EE) denote wider options, with 2E being extra wide. If you usually have trouble with narrow shoes or need more space for your toes, width E or 2E will give you more comfort.
Topo Athletic offers already in standard version wider toe box (front part of the shoe) than most regular brands, so your toes have enough room for natural movement. Standard width gives a comfortable yet snug fit (corresponds to E marking in the toe area and D in the midfoot and heel).
If you've got a wider foot or want even more room, go for this Wide option (which corresponds to the 2E marking at the toe and E in the midfoot and heel). Both options keep your foot securely in place and provide solid support, so your shoe won't slip even during dynamic movement.
Our experience
Despite its relatively low weight – 286 grams in size 42,5 EU, this is no fragile slipper.
The Terraventure 4 is a robust trail shoe with a solid tread that can handle tough terrain and keep you stable. Several members of our Gramino team (David, Míša, and Peťa) have sworn by Topo trail running shoes for the past few years.
We've put Topo Athletic shoes to the test on a number of treks:
- Lighter winter crossings paired with waterproof socks DexShell.
- Mountain trekking in Kyrgyzstan, where the terrain consisted mainly of dusty trails, rocky paths, and scree slopes.
- Long-distance thru-hiking: Peťa completed the Pacific Crest Trail a few years ago and, in 2024, hiked the Continental Divide Trail in Topo trail shoes.
In all these cases, they have proven themselves. That’s why we’re thrilled to welcome them to our Gramino collection!
