Thanks to the two zippers at the entrance on the rainfly, you can set up an awning over the vestibule.
The tent is designed for two people, has two entrances and two vestibules. Both sleepers have their own entrance and sufficient space for equipment. All zippers have double sliders and are equipped with ergonomic pull-tabs. The rainfly has zippers protected by a storm flap with Velcro.
At Copper Spur, you will definitely appreciate the many pockets and storage space. The largest pocket (the so-called 3D bin) is located at the ceiling above your feet. Three smaller flat pockets are located above your head. One of these pockets has an opening in the corner. Here at Big Agnes, they thought of those who like to listen to music - you can put your phone in the top pocket and run the headphone cable through the opening. You will also find two more small flat pockets at the entrances on the sides. There are also several loops for hanging necessary gear or drying clothes.
The rainfly is not pulled down to the ground, ensuring better air circulation and minimizing the chance of internal condensation. To prevent water from splashing into the tent during heavy rain, the inner tent features waterproof material along the sides, extending from the ground up to a height of approximately 50 cm. The rainfly is equipped with one vent with a mosquito net.
The construction of the tent is easier thanks to the cleverly designed TipLok Tent Buckle™ in the corners of the tent, which has three functions: securing the pole structure, tensioning and attaching the rainfly to the tent body, and staking down.
To ensure extra stability, there are Velcro strips on the inner side of the rainfly that allow you to secure the rainfly to the structure.
The tent can also be used in Fast Fly mode, where you leave the inner tent at home and only take the frame, rainfly, and stakes. This way, you achieve a beautiful weight of 1 050 grams. However, you will need original footprint, which is not included in the package. The footprint will also extend the life of the tent body floor, so it is worth having. If you do not wish to purchase a footprint, at least consider using tyvek.
The tent construction is simple and quick, thanks to the single-pole structure made of lightweight and durable DAC Featherlite aluminum pole.
Awning-style vestibule
The new versions of the Copper Spur tents allow you to create an awning over the vestibule from the rainfly, which can be set up using trekking poles or other poles or branches.
This awning, or marquee, offers shade and a cool retreat on hot days. On warm evenings, the tent allows for excellent ventilation. You can leave your gear in the vestibules while staying protected from dew.
Simply adapt the tent to your needs and mood.
Materials and construction
The rainfly and the tent body are constructed from silicone-coated double ripstop nylon, which is additionally treated with a PU coating on the inner side. The combination of these two treatments (silicone + coating) ensures excellent waterproofing. The qualities of this tent are indeed reflected in annual research of the most commonly used equipment in long-distance races, where it has been placing in the TOP 5 for several years in a row.
All seams are taped with waterproof polyurethane tape free of solvents (PVC and VOC free). You won't encounter any additional seam sealing or similar here.
The tent is constructed of one durable DAC Featherlite NFL aluminum pole. The tent structure is free-standing.
The new ultralight and durable Dirt Dagger UL Tent Stakes are made of aluminum, feature a patented I-beam construction, and have a length of 15 cm.
