Features
A fully equipped tent with two side entrances with vestibules and one front entrance, from which you can set up an awning. The awning provides extra ventilation on hot summer nights, an additional escape route, or extra storage space for pets and gear. The overhanging walls provide maximum space inside the tent. With these features, the Salt Creek SL2 is one of the most versatile backpacking tents from Big Agnes.
The entrance zippers are equipped with two zipper sliders and a storm flap with Velcro. The reflective straps and color-coded elements of the tent will make constructing it easier during the day or night.
The construction of the tent is easier thanks to the cleverly designed TipLok Tent Buckle™ in the corners of the tent, which has three functions: securing the pole structure, tensioning and attaching the rainfly to the tent body, and staking down.
For better ventilation and to minimize condensation, the rainfly is equipped with one vent window with a mosquito net.
In the interior of the inner tent, you will find a very spacious pocket above the foot area, which effectively utilizes otherwise unused space.
Two smaller pockets are located on the sides near the entrance, and the last smaller pocket can be found above your head. It has openings in the corners specially designed for those who enjoy listening to music – you can place your mobile phone in the upper pocket and lead the headphone cable through the opening.
To ensure extra stability, there are hook-and-loop fasteners on the inner side of the rainfly, with which you can attach the rainfly to the structure.
The tent can also be used in Fast Fly mode, where you leave the inner tent at home and take only the frame, rainfly, and stakes. This brings you to a beautiful weight of 1 330 grams. However, you will need the original footprint, which is not included in the package. The footprint will also extend the lifespan of the sleeping area, and it's definitely useful to have it. If you don't want to purchase a footprint, consider at least using Tyvek.
The construction of the tent is simple and intuitive.
Materials and construction
The rainfly and the floor of the tent body are constructed from ripstop polyester with a PU coating. The body of the inner tent is constructed from breathable ripstop polyester and polyester mesh.
All seams are taped with waterproof polyurethane tape free of solvents (PVC and VOC free). You won't have to deal with any additional seam sealing or similar procedure.
The tent structure is made of robust and durable DAC Pressfit aluminum poles.
The tent is freestanding. This means it can stand on its own without being staked to the ground.
