Features
A fully equipped tent with two side entrances with vestibules and one front entrance from which you can set up an awning. The awning provides extra ventilation on hot summer nights, an additional escape route, or extra covered space for furry buddies or gear that you don’t want directly in the tent. The shape of the tent walls creates maximum possible interior space. With these features, the Salt Creek SL3 is among the most versatile hiking tents from Big Agnes.
The zippers of the entrances are equipped with two zipper sliders and a storm flap with Velcro. The reflective straps and color-coded elements of the tent will make constructing it easier during the day or night.
The tent construction is simple thanks to the cleverly designed TipLok Tent Buckle™ in the corners of the tent, which has three functions: securing the pole structure, tensioning and attaching the rainfly to the tent body, and staking it down.
For better ventilation and to minimize unpleasant condensation, the rainfly is equipped with one vent with a mosquito net.
In the interior of the inner tent, you will find a very spacious pocket above the foot area, which effectively utilizes otherwise unused space.
Four smaller pockets are located on the sides near the entrance, and the last smaller pocket can be found above your head. It has openings in the corners specifically for those who love to listen to music – you can place your mobile phone in the top pocket and use the opening to run your headphone cable out.
To ensure extra stability, there are Velcro strips on the inner side of the rainfly, which allow you to connect the rainfly to the structure.
The tent can also be used in Fast Fly mode, where you leave the inner tent at home and go out only with the structure, rainfly, and stakes. This way, you will achieve a beautiful weight of 1 670 grams. However, you will need original footprint, which is not included in the package. The footprint will also extend the lifespan of the tent body and it's definitely useful to have one. If you don't want to purchase a footprint, consider at least using Tyvek.
The tent construction is simple and intuitive.
Materials and construction
The rainfly and the tent body floor are made of ripstop polyester with a polyurethane coating. The body of the inner tent is made of breathable ripstop polyester and polyester mesh.
All seams are taped with waterproof polyurethane tape without solvents (PVC and VOC free). You won't need any additional seam sealing or anything like that here.
The tent construction consists of robust and durable DAC Pressfit aluminum poles.
The tent is freestanding. This means it can stand on its own without being staked to the ground.

3 doors
Two classic side doors with vestibules are complemented by an extra entrance at the front of the tent. You can tension the wall using trekking poles and set up a canopy.
Fast Fly
The tent can also be used in Fast Fly mode – without the inner mesh, ultralight backpacking enthusiasts save 749 grams.
Inner mosquito net
Protects against insects while allowing maximum air ventilation. It contains 1 ceiling pocket and 4 side pockets.
