Big Agnes Tiger Wall UL1
Popular ultralight three-season tent for 1 person from the American brand Big Agnes. It's one of the most used tents on long-distance trails, like the AT, PCT, and CDT. The tent has 1 side entrance and a lovely weight of 850 grams. The tent material is now equipped with the innovative HyperBead™ technology, making it even lighter, stronger, and more waterproof.

Features
The new Tiger Wall tent models for 2025 feature the innovative HyperBead™ technology, which enhances the material's strength, increases water resistance, and simultaneously reduces weight (more info below).
The tent has one side entrance with a spacious vestibule for storing your gear. The rainfly is equipped with two zipper sliders and a storm flap with Velcro. Setting it up day or night is made easier by reflective guy lines and color-coded elements of the tent. Inside the tent, you'll find loops for attaching gear lofts and other gear.
Setting up the tent is easier thanks to the clever TipLok Tent Buckle™ on the corners, which has three functions: securing the pole structure, tensioning and attaching the rainfly to the tent body, and staking it down.
Setting up and taking down the tent is simple and quick, thanks to the single-pole construction made from a lightweight and durable DAC Featherlite aluminum pole.
A great thing about the Tiger Wall is all the storage space it offers. You'll find the biggest pocket (the so-called 3D bin) at the top, one smaller pocket at the entrance, and the last pocket is located above your head. That one has holes in the corners for those who like to listen to music – you can put your phone in the top pocket and run your headphone cable through the opening.
The pole runs down the middle at your feet, so the back wall is always nice and taut in the center, which creates more usable space in the foot area and reduces the chance of the sleeping bag's footbox sticking to the damp rainfly from condensation.
To ensure better air ventilation and reduce possible condensation, there’s a vent above the vestibule door. At the same time, we recommend using the zipper slider on the rainfly at the entrance. With two sliders, you can partially open the zipper from the bottom and the top. Keeping the inner tent door open is made easy with the Quick Stash holder.
To ensure extra stability, there are hook-and-loop strips on the inside of the rainfly that let you connect the rainfly to the structure.
You can also use the tent in Fast Fly mode, where you leave the tent body (inner tent) at home and just head out with the poles, rainfly, and stakes. This way, you'll get to a lovely weight of 652 grams. However, you’ll need original footprint, which isn’t included in the package. The footprint will also extend the life of your tent body. As an alternative, we suggest using at least Tyvek.
You'll also get a handy compression EZ Pack Stuff Sack with a large longitudinal opening and a compression closure for easy and quick packing.
HyperBead™ technology
Big Agnes is bringing a new innovative material treatment technology – HyperBead™ – to their ultralight tents for 2025. Thanks to this advanced waterproof treatment, the tents are lighter, stronger, and more durable than ever before. HyperBead™ is free from PFAS and other harmful substances, offering a safer and more sustainable alternative to standard water-repellent treatments without negative impacts on health and the environment.
Compared to regular materials, tents with HyperBead™ technology have:
- 6 % lower weight – even lighter ultralight tents,
- 50 % higher strength – better tear resistance,
- 25 % higher waterproofness – lasting protection without the need for reproofing.
Unlike regular DWR treatments, HyperBead™ is impermeable at the molecular level, so it maintains its effectiveness throughout the tent's lifespan. At the same time, it stretches less when wet, which contributes to better stability and longer durability of the material.

- Inner tent – breathable recycled 15D nylon ripstop and polyester mesh

- Waterproof seams – solvent-free polyurethane tape (doesn't contain PVC or VOCs). All seams are taped, so you won't have to deal with any additional seam sealing or anything like that.
- Stakes – 9 x 6” Dirt Dagger™ UL Stakes (length 15 cm)
- The tent is semi-freestanding. That means it can stand on its own without being staked down, but to keep the lower part at your feet taut, you’ll need to weigh it down or stake it out.
- Pitching the tent is simple and intuitive.
