Cumulus Comforter L500 is a lightweight, versatile down blanket that you can use as a quilt, an underquilt for your hammock, or as an extra insulating layer for a sleeping bag or quilt. On its own, it's perfect for summer and warmer spring and fall, but it also works great in cooler conditions at cabins or as a liner in a sleeping bag.

Cumulus Comforter L500 is a versatile all-around down comforter that gives you the maximum possible freedom of use:
- Blanket – Comforter can be used as a classic down blanket in cabins or outside during warmer nights.
- Quilt – You can turn the blanket into a classic quilt with a cinch at the feet and a simple attachment to your sleeping pad using elastic straps.
- Underquilt – You can easily hang the blanket under your hammock to improve thermal insulation from below.
- Sleeping bag liner – An extra insulation layer inside your sleeping bag or quilt that significantly boosts its thermal comfort in winter.
Comforter L500 has dimensions of 227 × 140 cm and is intended for people up to 195 cm tall. You can also get this blanket in a smaller size – Comforter M400.
Materials and Construction
The manufacturer went for the tried-and-true Toray® Airtastic 19 g/m² (7D ripstop nylon) fabric, which perfectly combines low weight, durability, breathability, and packability. Plus, the fabric is treated with a durable water-repellent (DWR) finish that reliably withstands light condensation and a few drops of water.
The thermal insulation is taken care of by 500 grams of goose down with a fill power of 850 cuin in a 95/5 ratio (down/small feathers). The down is ethically sourced from Poland. The total weight of the blanket is 695 grams.
The blanket has a rectangular shape and an H-chamber construction with continuous chambers that evenly distribute the down. In quilt mode, you can open up the blanket at the foot area to ventilate it. Thanks to the tightening at the ends, the loops on the sides, and the elastic cord, you can easily attach it to your sleeping pad.
Accessories
- Stuff sack – The packed blanket comes in a cylindrical shape with a volume of 6 liters and dimensions of 26 × 18 cm (height × diameter).
- Storage bag – It lets you stash your blanket without compressing the down for long periods, which extends its lifespan and keeps the loft.
- Attachment system to the sleeping pad – 8 meters of elastic cord with plastic stops, which you can cut to the desired length as needed.
The original stuff sack can’t be compressed any further and isn’t waterproof, so we recommend getting a bag that solves both problems. The ideal choice is Sea To Summit eVac Compression Dry Bag UL or a classic waterproof bag Sea To Summit Ultra-Sil Dry Bag (size 8 liters).
