Merino socks don’t need to be washed after every wear. Merino wool is naturally antibacterial and resistant to odors. In fact, washing them less frequently extends their durability. Therefore, you can wash the socks after a few days of wear or even after a month — it’s all about your personal preferences.
Before washing, turn the socks inside out.
Wash in the washing machine on a gentle cycle or in warm water. If your washing machine has a wool cycle, you can use this setting. If you’re washing the socks while trekking in the wild, we recommend multi-purpose cleaner Sea To Summit, which is gentle on both the environment and your socks and skin. Do not use bleach or fabric softeners.
Leave the socks to dry in the dryer on a low temperature or ideally air dry them.
What to avoid: High heat and aggressive chemicals can damage the properties of merino wool fibers. To ensure your socks last as long as possible, keep these 4 rules in mind:
Do not clean chemically.
Do not use bleach.
Do not use fabric softener.
Do not iron.
