The desire to save every gram and get rid of excess items is great. As ultralight enthusiasts, we often balance on a thin line. The line where we are no longer ultralight, but so-called stupid light. In this case, we may pride ourselves on having the lightest backpack on the mountain ridge, but our super lightweight DIY gear has lost functionality, or we left some items completely at home and now we miss them. This has significantly impacted our comfort or even endangered our safety.
In the community of ultralight enthusiasts, we encounter extremists who break their toothbrushes in half. We believe this is already going too far. The t-shirt with the slogan "Ultralight Doesn’t Mean Stupid Light" reminds us that ultralight is not about chasing every gram but finding ways to enjoy our walks in nature a little more.
