ATTILA
The ATTILA from the German brand Hyberg is a frameless backpack made from the popular ultralight and waterproof X-Pac material. With its volume (46–50 liters depending on size) and customization options, it is ideal for weekend hikes as well as long-distance trails.
The ATTILA series features a simple minimalist design with plenty of practical features. The ATTILA differs from the ATTILA ULTRA not only in the materials used but also by including a removable foam back panel, hydration reservoir compatibility, and a hidden zippered pocket inside the backpack.
Features
Waterproof material – The backpack is made from highly durable and waterproof X-Pac material. However, the seams are not taped, so the backpack is not completely waterproof.
Frameless construction with removable foam padding – The frameless design requires more attention during packing, but once you adapt to it, it provides incredible comfort, flexibility, and excellent adaptability to your body shape. Inside the backpack, there is a pocket for a removable foam back panel (weighing 40 grams), which can also be replaced with a folded inflatable sleeping pad or seat pad. Alternatively, the seat pad or folded foam sleeping pad can be attached to the exterior of the pack using elastic straps located on the sides.
Roll-top closure – The main compartment features a roll-top closure with a three-point fastening system (straps with buckles for compression or attaching additional gear), allowing you to adjust the height and volume of the backpack according to its load.
Load lifters – Straps that pull the top of the backpack closer to the body for improved stabilization and weight distribution.
Hidden zippered pocket – Inside the backpack, there is a larger hidden zippered pocket with a loop for attaching keys.
Wide shoulder straps with stretch pockets – Particularly on a frameless backpack, you will appreciate the wide, comfortable, and well-padded shoulder straps. Each strap features durable stretch pockets, suitable for holding a small water bottle or small essentials like sunglasses, tissues, or snacks.
Side pockets – The side pockets have elastic hems at the top and are spacious and deep enough to hold up to two 1,5 l bottles, which are easily accessible without removing the backpack. They are made from sturdy UltraGrid material with a DWR coating. At the bottom of each pocket is a drainage hole to prevent water from collecting during rain.
Stretch kangaroo pocket – On the front of the backpack, there is a spacious pocket made of durable stretch mesh material, ideal for items like a waterproof jacket, trowel, tent stakes, or similar gear. Additional attachment options are provided by elastic cords on the exterior of the pocket. The cords can easily be removed, left at home, or repositioned as needed.
Side elastic cords – Elastic cords with Linelocs on the sides are useful for compression or attaching gear like trekking poles or foam sleeping pads. They can also be adjusted to attach a sleeping pad externally to provide extra back padding.
Comfortable hip belt with pockets – A padded, wide hip belt helps distribute weight evenly between the shoulders and hips. It features spacious zippered pockets with waterproof zippers and a clip for attaching keys.
Adjustable sternum strap – The sternum strap can be adjusted up or down or removed entirely if not needed. The strap weighs 12 grams.
Hydration reservoir compatibility – The backpack is compatible with a hydration bladder, with a port for the drinking tube located between the shoulder straps.

Materials
The backpack is constructed from X-Pac® VX07S material. The side pockets, hip belt pockets, and upper side of the shoulder straps are made from UltraGrid™ (recycled 210D nylon x 5 mm double 200D) with a DWR coating. Stretch pockets are made from durable spandex/nylon.
X-Pac® VX07 Ripstop Soft is a 4-layer laminated material that offers high durability, waterproof construction, low stretch, and lightweight properties, while maintaining a pleasant softness.
The material consists of the following layers:
- DWR coating
- 70 denier nylon Ripstop fabric
- Recycled polyester X-PLY® fibers
- 50 denier polyester fabric
Material properties:

- Waterproof rating: 200+ psi (13,8+ bar)
- Tear strength ASTM D2261: 93,0 N / 9,5 kg (warp), 77,9 N / 7,9 kg (fill)
The main fabric of the backpack is 100% waterproof, but please note that the seams are not sealed, meaning the backpack is not fully waterproof.
