BANDIT Lite from the German brand Hyberg is an ultralight frameless backpack for minimalism enthusiasts who also appreciate quality. It's perfect for weekend hikes, but with a well-tuned lightweight setup, you can handle longer treks with it too. The backpack is constructed from highly durable and waterproof Dyneema® material and offers plenty of features and customization options.

Specifications
Hyberg BANDIT Lite is an ultralight frameless backpack made from super durable, lightweight, and waterproof Dyneema material. It’ll be a great buddy for your weekend hikes, but with a tuned-up ultralight setup, you’ll manage much longer treks with it too.
BANDIT Lite is structurally the same as the backpack BANDIT and they only differ in material. Both models are already in their second development series, which has several improvements. The large front pocket is now bigger and made from Spandex Stretch Mesh material. The side pockets are even more accessible while walking. The top part of the backpack has been slightly widened for easier packing. The roll closure now features two additional side buckles for better compression or attaching extra gear.
The size of the backpack is universal and it fits back lengths (torso) from 45 to 65 cm. The total weight of the backpack is 395 grams, which includes 40 grams for the hip belt and 15 grams for the chest strap (removable). The total volume of the backpack is 40 liters (29 l internal volume, 11 l external pockets).
Features – construction
- Waterproofing – the backpack is made from super durable waterproof Dyneema® Composite Fabric with taped seams using UltraTNT waterproof tape, which also boosts seam durability.
- Frameless construction – even though it requires more attention when packing, it also brings comfort, flexibility, and a great fit to your body shape. The option to attach, for example, seat pad on the outside with tensioning cords to create extra padding.
- Roll-top closure – one main chamber with roll-top closing and side straps with buckle for compression or attachment of extra gear. You can adjust the height and volume of the backpack based on how much you pack into it.
- Hydration bladder compatibility – the backpack is compatible with a hydration bladder, and there's an opening between the shoulder straps to route the hose.
Features – pockets and straps
- Shoulder straps with pockets – wide and padded shoulder straps with stretch pockets for a smaller bottle, phone, snack, or other small items.
- Adjustable chest strap (15 g) – you can move the chest strap up/down or remove it and leave it at home.
- Side pockets – spacious, deep, can hold two 1,5 L bottles, which you can easily reach while walking without having to take the backpack off your back.
- Front stretch pocket – spacious pocket made of Spandex Stretch Mesh material. It's perfect for a waterproof jacket, toilet trowel, stakes, and similar gear.
- Side drawstrings – for compression or attaching gear on the sides like trekking poles, foam sleeping pads, etc. You can also adjust them for external attachment of the sleeping pad on your back as extra padding.
- Adjustable hip belt (40 g) – a simple hip belt primarily used for stabilizing your backpack or attaching additional pockets. You can either completely remove the belt or adjust it 5 cm higher, thanks to two small handles on the sides of the backpack.
Materials
The BANDIT Lite backpack is made from Dyneema® material, and the front pocket and the pockets on the shoulder straps are constructed from Spandex Stretch Mesh material.
Dyneema® Composite Fabric (DCF) is a revolutionary material not just in the outdoor world. It has an impressive strength-to-weight ratio, making it the strongest fiber in the world. Dyneema® fibers are 15x stronger than high-quality steel, lightweight, abrasion-resistant, waterproof, and resistant to UV rays and chemicals.
The backpack is made from a hybrid composite fabric Dyneema® – specifically from 2.92 oz Dyneema® Composite Fabric Hybrid CT5K.18/wov.32c. This material is created by combining and laminating additional layers with Dyneema® fibers. It stands out for its high abrasion resistance, exceptional strength, excellent rip-stop properties, and water impermeability.
This material is 100% waterproof on its own, but the stitching creates tiny holes. Even though the seams of the backpack are taped, you can't call it completely waterproof. For full protection against water and moisture, we recommend adding a waterproof sacks.
