Katadyn BeFree AC is the new version of the popular water filter for removing dirt, bacteria, and protozoa, now featuring a secondary removable activated carbon filter to improve the smell and taste of the water.
You have access to a mountain spring and only worry about impurities and microorganisms? Just use a water filter and skip the activated carbon module. But if you're collecting water from questionable sources, a two-stage filter will give you not just clean and safe water, but also good-tasting water. The activated carbon filter is located between the filter and the cap.
The water filter features the proven EZ-Clean Membrane™. It works on the principle of hollow fibers, so it traps anything larger than 0,1 microns. It meets EPA standards and removes up to 99,9% of bacteria and protozoa (including Giardia, Cryptosporidium). The filter is easy to clean; just pull it out of the bottle and rinse it in clean water. The stated lifespan of the water filter is up to 1000 liters, and the secondary filter with activated carbon is 200 liters, depending on water quality.
The filter has a hard plastic neck with an integrated sturdy loop for easier carrying or attachment to your backpack. You can drink easily from the soft sports mouthpiece, and thanks to the durable sealing cap, you don’t have to worry about water spilling on your way.
The package also includes an extremely durable, soft, foldable SoftFlask bottle with a reinforced double wall, holding 1 liter. Thanks to its wide mouth, it’s easy to fill, and when the bottle is empty, you can simply roll it up and stash it in your backpack.
