Katadyn BeFree AC is the new version of the popular water filter for removing dirt, bacteria, and protozoa, now featuring a secondary removable activated carbon filter to improve the taste and smell of the water.
You have access to a mountain spring and you're only worried about dirt and microorganisms? Just use a water filter and skip the additional activated charcoal module. But if you're filling up from questionable sources, a two-stage filter will give you water that’s not only clean and safe but also tastes good. The activated charcoal filter is located between the filter and the cap.
The water filter features the proven EZ-Clean Membrane™. It works on the principle of hollow fibers, so it catches anything larger than 0,1 microns. It meets EPA standards and removes up to 99,9% of bacteria and protozoa (including Giardia, Cryptosporidium). The filter is easy to clean, just pull it out of the bottle and rinse it in clean water. The stated lifespan of the water filter is up to 1000 liters and the secondary activated carbon filter is 200 liters, depending on water quality.
The filter has a hard plastic neck with an integrated sturdy loop for easier carrying or attaching to your backpack. You can drink easily from the soft sport mouthpiece, and thanks to the durable, screw-on lid, you don’t have to worry about water spilling on you during the trip.
Included in the package is a soft collapsible PVC bottle (BPA-free) from Hydrapak with a volume of 1 liter. Thanks to the wide mouth, it's easy to fill, and when the bottle is empty, you can simply roll it up and pack it away in your backpack.
