Katadyn BeFree AC is a new version of the popular water filter for removing dirt, bacteria, and protozoa, enhanced with a secondary removable activated carbon filter to improve the smell and taste of the water.
You have access to a mountain spring and only worry about dirt and microorganisms? Just use a water filter and skip the additional activated carbon module. But if you're collecting water from questionable sources, a two-stage filter will give you water that’s not just clean and safe, but also tastes good. The add-on activated carbon filter sits between the filter and the cap.
The water filter features the proven EZ-Clean Membrane™. It works on the principle of hollow fibers, so it catches anything larger than 0,1 microns. It meets EPA standards and removes up to 99,9% of bacteria and protozoa (including Giardia and Cryptosporidium). The filter is super easy to clean; just pull it out of the bottle and rinse it in clean water. The stated lifespan of the water filter is up to 1000 liters and the secondary activated carbon filter is 200 liters, depending on water quality.
The filter has a hard plastic neck with an integrated sturdy loop for easier carrying or attachment to your backpack. The soft sport mouthpiece makes drinking easy, and thanks to the durable sealing cap, you don't have to worry about spilling water on the go.
Included in the package is a soft, foldable PVC bottle (BPA-free) from Hydrapak with a capacity of 0,5 liters. It fits perfectly into the pocket on the shoulder strap of your backpack or running vest. Thanks to its wide mouth, it's easy to fill, and when the bottle is empty, you can just roll it up and pack it away in your backpack.
