Ultralight mechanical water filter weighing just 48 grams for trekking and traveling. The filter has a flow rate of up to 3 l/min. It works on the principle of hollow fibers, which capture everything larger than 0,2 microns (eliminates bacteria, parasites, microplastics, and sediments). The standard 28 mm thread allows you to screw it directly onto most PET bottles.
This could come in handy for you.

The LifeStraw Peak Series Solo is a compact mechanical microfilter with pores sized at 0,2 microns. It removes 99,9% of bacteria (including E. coli and Salmonella), parasites (Giardia, Cryptosporidium), microplastics, sand, sediment, and turbidity. The powerful membrane is designed to minimize clogging and maintain a flow rate of up to 3 liters per minute even with long-term use.
Thanks to the 28 mm thread, the filter is compatible with most common PET bottles – just screw it on, squeeze the bottle, and push the filtered water into another container, or drink straight through the filter.
The stated lifespan of the filter is 2000 liters. Although it might seem small compared to competing filters, it's enough for several years of using the filter in the field. Just for fun, try calculating how much water you can filter during one season in the field.

Protect the filter from freezing – if water freezes inside, it could damage its microfibers. From time to time, backflush the filter with clean water in the opposite direction of the filtration flow.
If you're planning to store the LifeStraw Peak Series Solo filter for more than a month without using it, the manufacturer recommends giving the filter a thorough flush first and then disinfecting it with a solution made from 1/4 teaspoon of regular bleach and 2 cups of water. Use a syringe to push the solution through the membrane five times, let it sit for 5 minutes, and then flush the filter five times with clean water. Finally, fill the filter with a saline solution (1 teaspoon of salt in 2 cups of water) and store it in an airtight container to keep it moist. Before using it again, flush the filter with drinking water. Keep it cool and dry.
