Montane Minimus Lite Jacket
Ultralight, windproof, waterproof, and at the same time well breathable men's jacket for activities where grams matter. The Montane Minimus Lite Jacket is the successor of the already proven Minimus Jacket model. The main difference lies in the arrangement of pockets and the material, which is more flexible in the Minimus Lite Jacket, providing greater freedom of movement and slightly better durability.

Minimus Lite Jacket
New arrival in the Montane collection for spring and summer 2023. The Minimus Lite Jacket is the successor to the popular and years-tested Minimus Jacket. The original piece was used on our hike across of Iceland in 2017 and has since undergone several improvements. Thanks to its very low weight and perfect packability, you won't even feel it in your backpack, and it will become a permanent part of your gear list.
The main domain of this jacket is its really low weight and excellent packability, making it suitable mainly for shorter treks as well as long-distance trails, travel, and mountain running.
The jacket is constructed from a 2,5-layer Pertex® Shield material with a water column of 20 000 mm and a breathability of 20 000 g/m2/24 hours, which can be considered above standard for waterproof jackets. All seams are carefully taped with waterproof micro strips that do not reduce the breathability of the jacket.
Jacket fit and all the features are designed so that nothing restricts you during active movement, whether it’s running or walking slowly.

Our experiences
When packing for shorter trips, we often hesitate whether to take our classic (heavier and less packable) waterproof jacket or leave it at home. We won't lie, there have been several times when the weather forecast turned 180° and we regretted not having the waterproof jacket with us.
With the low weight and perfect packability of the Minimus jacket, this dilemma practically disappears, as you will hardly feel it in your backpack. Unlike heavy waterproof jackets, you won’t mind carrying it with you, even if you don't end up using it. It will become a permanent part of your gear list.
We had the Minimus Jacket (the original version) with us during our hike across of Iceland in 2017, where they really proved themselves.
Our recommendation
Since it is an ultralight 2,5-layer piece, it is not suitable to wear the jacket for an extended period under a heavy backpack (approx. over 10 kg). This could lead to rapid wear of the material in the shoulder area. For a heavier backpack, we recommend choosing a waterproof jacket with a 3-layer construction Montane Phase Nano Jacket or Montane Phase Lite Jacket.
Definitely don't forget to wash your jacket with a suitable detergent after a few activities (Atsko Sport Wash 1000 ml) – this will extend its lifespan. Salt, sweat, and dirt can decrease the performance and lifespan of ultralight materials and waterproof membranes.
