Material and construction
The STS Ether Light XR Insulated inflatable sleeping pad builds on the previous Ether Light XT Insulated model, but thanks to the improved design, it's even lighter and more packable.
The sleeping pad comes with the new multifunctional XPRESS valve, which makes inflating, deflating, and pressure adjustment quicker and easier than before.
The Air Sprung Cell™ technology (air-sprung cells) gives you awesome body support while you sleep – each cell acts independently and doesn’t affect the others (so when you toss and turn, you don't feel like you're "floating").
The sleeping pad is constructed from 30D/40D high-strength nylon that doesn’t crinkle. Inside the sleeping pad, there’s ThermalCore insulation with a single layer of TRM, which effectively reflects heat back to you. This layer reduces air movement inside the pad, and smaller cutouts compared to previous models further minimize this effect. The result is an increase in R value while also lowering the weight and packed volume. Plus, the sleeping pad has improved seam strength for greater durability and longer life.
The Ether Light XR Insulated stands out mainly with its thickness of 10 cm, so it reliably evens out any surface irregularities.
- Regular size is 55 cm wide and 183 cm long. Packed, it has a cylindrical shape with a diameter of 11 cm and a height of 20,5 cm. It weighs 470 grams.
- Large size is 64 cm wide and 198 cm long. When packed, it’s cylindrical with a diameter of 11,5 cm and a height of 24 cm. It weighs 605 grams.
Specifications and sccessories
The sleeping pad has an R-value of R=4,1, making it suitable for use from spring to autumn. Tough folks can even handle mild winter with it. Sea To Summit sleeping pads are measured according to the ASTM F3340 standard. If another manufacturer uses this standard, you can easily compare sleeping pads across brands.
The sleeping pad features a unique PillowLock™ system – self-adhesive Velcro that lets you easily and securely attach any Sea To Summit pillow to the pad so it won’t slip away.
You'll get the Airstream™ Pumpsack with the sleeping pad – a small storage stuff sack and a pump sack in one (55 g for the Regular version, 60 g for the Large version) and a repair kit.
