Topo MTN Racer 3
The MTN Racer 3 model is a super cushioned trail running shoe with a 28/33 mm high ZipFoam™ midsole, offering the perfect mix of comfort, protection, and dynamic response. The Vibram® Megagrip outsole ensures excellent grip and reliable traction even in challenging technical terrain.
The MTN Racer 3 shoes have a 5 mm drop that combines a more natural stride with enough support and comfort for running on varied terrain. The improved toe curvature also makes it easier to transition quickly into the push-off, ensuring a smoother, more efficient run. If you're looking for a shoe with a zero drop for an even more natural motion, check out the Pursuit 2 model.
The upper of the shoe offers high breathability, durability, and the necessary protection for your foot in the most stressed areas. Of course, it also has a wide toe box that allows for natural toe splay and a more comfortable stride. Thanks to these features, the MTN Racer 3 model is an ideal choice for trail running, as well as for quick mountain ascents and long, technically challenging treks.

Our experiences
Despite its relatively low weight – 286 grams in size 42,5 EU, it’s not some flimsy little shoe.
The MTN Racer 3 is a solid trail shoe with a decent tread that can take a beating and keep you supported on the terrain. Some members of our Gramino team (David, Míša, and Peťa) have been swearing by Topo trail shoes for the last few years.
We've tested Topo Athletic shoes on a bunch of treks:
- Light winter crossings paired with DexShell waterproof socks.
- Mountain trekking in Kyrgyzstan, where the terrain consisted mainly of dusty trails, rocky paths, and scree slopes.
- Long-distance thru-hiking: Peťa completed the Pacific Crest Trail a few years ago and, in 2024, hiked the Continental Divide Trail in Topo trail shoes.
