Enlightened Equipment Enigma Quilt 10°F (-12°C) – Draft Collar
Enigma is the lightest down quilt offered by Enlightened Equipment. It is almost identical to the Revelation model, with the key difference being that the Enigma features a closed, non-zippered foot box. This makes it a few grams lighter and more compact. The 10°F version is an ideal choice as a three-season quilt for the cold-sensitive individuals. However, hardier hikers can also handle mild freezing adventures with it. The quilt features an insulated draft collar around the neck, which minimizes heat loss.

Materials
The Enigma quilt is constructed from 10 denier nylon (23 g/m²), which is pleasant to the touch and offers an ideal balance between durability, breathability, and low weight. The fabric is treated with a durable water-repellent (DWR) coating on the outer side, which protects the down of the sleeping bag from light condensation or a few drops of water.
The quilt in size Regular/Regular is filled with 525 grams of duck down with a fill power of 850 cuin (US method) and its total weight is a beautiful 698 grams! The quilt size Long / Wide is filled with 598 grams of down and has a total weight of 791 grams. The down is ethically sourced and has certification RDS. Enlightened Equipment states a limit temperature for its quilts, which corresponds to standard measurements EN 13537/ISO 23537. The comfort temperature is about 5°C above the limit temperature.
Construction
EE relies on a unique U-shaped chamber construction in its quilts, which combines the best features of traditional horizontal and vertical chambers. Vertical chambers prevent down from shifting to the sides, which most often occurs when sleeping on your side. Horizontal chambers in the foot box maintain maximum loft and keep the down exactly where it's needed.
Between the individual chambers, there are vertical baffles that significantly reduce heat loss at the junction of two chambers compared to simpler sewn through constructions.
To save weight and improve packability, quilts are stripped of all unnecessary features. On its back side from the waist up, inefficiently used down is removed, which would be mostly compressed under your body and practically serve no purpose. To keep the opening on your back underneath you at all times, the quilt is attached to the sleeping pad using elastic straps. The quilt remains in a fixed position, and you can turn inside it. The quilt can be used with any type of sleeping pad (inflatable or foam). Additionally, the quilt does not have a hood; you can replace it with a hat or a hooded down jacket/sweatshirt.
Features
At the top of the quilt (behind the neck) there are two pairs of plastic snap fasteners and a drawstring with a barrel lock to minimize heat loss around the neck.
You will receive one round strap and one flat strap with buckles for the sleeping pad. The round strap is threaded around the sleeping pad, and the buckles on the strap are connected to the buckles on the quilt, ensuring that the quilt is secured to the sleeping pad and the opening on your back remains underneath you. The flat strap is used to attach to the top buckles of the quilt and to tighten the opening.
Enigma has, unlike a quilt Revelation, completely sewn foot box. This means losing the option of fully opening the quilt and using it as a blanket, but on the other hand, you save a few grams and improve packability a bit. The foot box will also be slightly warmer, making it more suitable for those who always have cold feet.
The quilt has an insulated draft collar around the neck – an additional chamber at the top edge of the quilt that wraps around the neck and minimizes heat loss, which you will especially appreciate in lower temperatures.
Accessories
You will also receive a large sack made of 100% organic cotton for home storage, so the quilt is not unnecessarily compressed for a long time.
A simple travel storage sack made of waterproof nylon is included with the quilt. In this sack, the quilt has a cylindrical shape with a height of 30 cm and a diameter of 17 cm. However, by using a compression sack, you can reduce the volume of the quilt by an additional 40%.
For 100% waterproofness and the possibility of compression, we recommend getting STS compression bag eVENT Ultra-Sil size S or a classic waterproof bag Sea To Summit Ultra-Sil Dry Sack about size 8 l.
