Trail shoes from Topo are some of the most popular for long-distance hiking, and it’s no wonder – they feature a low or zero drop, a lightweight construction, and a wide toe box. The new generation of the MTN Racer model builds on proven foundations – it brings improved ZipFoam™ cushioning, a new performance FKT Insole for better moisture management and energy return, and fantastic traction from the Vibram® Megagrip outsole in technically challenging terrain.
What makes the product special?

MTN Racer 4 model builds on the popular third generation – MTN Racer 3, but it brings several improvements right away. It keeps the 5mm drop, but thanks to the modified ZipFoam™ blend and the new FKT Insole, it offers better energy return and more efficient moisture wicking. The upgraded upper ensures even better performance in technical terrain while maintaining comfort and breathability. This model features a Velcro strap at the back for easy and secure attachment of gaiters, e.g. Tidy Gear Gaiters.
Just like the previous version, the four also bets on great traction thanks to the Vibram® Megagrip sole, which gives you reliable grip on wet rocks, mud, and scree.
Of course, there's a wide toe box that lets your toes splay naturally and makes for a more comfortable landing. Thanks to these features, the MTN Racer 4 is an ideal choice for trail running, as well as for quick mountain ascents and long, technically demanding treks.

MTN Racer 4 is a solid trail shoe with a decent grip that you can really push and it’ll support you in the terrain. Some people from our Gramino team (David, Míša, and Peťa) swear by Topo trail shoes for the last few years.
We tested Topo Athletic shoes on a number of treks, and in every case, they proved themselves to us:
